My story

After leaving high school, I continued the well-worn path of further education (studying politics and psychology), and employment (retail management, then training, then consulting).

As a self-proclaimed high-achiever, I thought busy was best. Validated by high-energy, multi-tasking opportunities;

  • I worked in high-pressure, high-performance teams.
  • I worked long hours.
  • I gave 110% to everything I did.
  • I was promoted into leadership roles.
  • I was rewarded with bonuses and work trips.
  • I was a work-a-holic.

But then something changed…

… I had a family. And whilst I could spin the plates for a few years, my work performance decreased, and my mental & physical health deteriorated.
The wheels fell off. 

Burnout wasn’t just a buzzword; it was a harsh reality. Maybe you can relate? In 2020 I made a pivotal decision: to create something different. I actively dismissed the idea of a three-stage working life. Instead, I wanted:

  • A fluid and tailored working life.
  • To make an impact.
  • To work when and how it suited me best.
  • To learn new skills.
  • To care for my family.
  • To take breaks, rest and recharge.

And I wanted to sustain this approach for many years.

So, I created Zedbe Careers with the mission to provide a new approach to career management.

One that fits this new paradigm of longer, multi-stage working lives. Now I want to help you…. Wherever you are in your career journey.
