Get your networking game on!
The jump start you need to make networking easier.
Most people cringe when they hear the term ‘networking’. And it’s often because it’s something people tell you do to when you’re actively looking for a new role or at a career crossroads.
But what if:
- You reframed the concept of networking as a ‘career conversation’?
- You started having these conversations when you were feeling great about your career?
- You didn’t have anything on the line, except to re(connect) or learn something new about someone else’s career?
- You wanted to make someone’s day by reaching out?
So…
- Think of the best people leader or colleague you had the pleasure of working with
- Dig out their contact details (or via LinkedIn) and call, message or email to book in a catch-up
- Let them know why they made such an impact / were great to work with / give them some positive feedback / ask them a curious question about their career since working with you / ask them what’s next in their career / ask them how you could help them with that goal.
- Finally, ask them who they would recommend you have a career conversation with.
- Repeat!
And right there! Your networking has begun.
